May 7, 2008

Oh, there it be.

It would seem I have found my camera. It is in good shape. I think I will go take pictures when it is sunny. My sentence structure is so plain. It is boring. But it is grammatically correct.

Tomorrow I have a field trip to Pike Place. And by field trip I actually meant that I get to draw diagrams of Pike Place Market and how the people walk in and out of the place. Then I need to pick an interesting spot and draw 4 perspective drawings 3 x 4 on a 15 x 20 illustration board all in pen so I can't screw up. Isn't that exciting? I probably won't enjoy two seconds of Pike Place goodness. I'll buy donuts though; I can't resist them. If you don't know where Pike Place Market is... Google it. I'm kidding (kind of). It's the directory of merchants and such in Seattle. It's a big deal; if you didn't know about it... then you're strange.

Since I don't need to finish my entire project just tomorrow- I think I may have an opportunity to take pictures and such. It will be cool. I'll probably spend Sunday there too- just so I can get more work in.

Pike Placed

So I went to Pike Place Market for my project and that place is just full of amazing art and lots of shops... so much variety and culture and blah blah! It was great. Some of the food is overpriced (a slice of cake for $6?)

Anyhow here's some beautiful art. if you love it a lot you should go and buy it. Artists are generally broke.
CIMG1507.JPG
Here's a uh, I dunno. I don't know what kind of art this is... but the patterns are full of so much... detail. I wanted to use the word ornate but detail means ornate so I couldn't. There goes my chance to seem sophisticated. Whatever.
CIMG1509.JPG
Simple stuff is cool too. This is cool. So very cool.
I keep a wishlist called "Things I'd buy if I were rich" and things like this are on it... I don't know where I'd put all this art though. Maybe I'll put them all over the walls and ceiling. Every time I look around I would be inspired with tons of fresh art and innovation... Oh but to have a room like that would cost a fortune as a print can cost anywhere from $30 - infinite.

Sigh...

Next week there will be a post on philosophy and making the world a better place. It will be very exciting for you to read my opinionated views. I'm just kidding. Maybe. How does one know they're blind? And even if I wasn't- what if you are blind? Then you'll think that I am blind. There is no winner.

Let's take a walk in the garden... the Japanese Garden.

CIMG1554.JPG
This is the East (?) entrance. This is where we were supposed to enter the Japanese garden. Unfortunately, the road was too close to the door. This means that it's too loud and such... therefore it wouldn't be very Zen.

CIMG1536.JPG
Here's a path to the garden. It's delightfully ugly. Do you know why? There shouldn't be those borders along the path... There should be nothing in-between yourself and nature. This is a modified Japanese garden though.

CIMG1548.JPG
Here is another path in the garden. There is no border in this one; it's very good. In fact, it's so good that our guide is holding his hand up and absorbing power from the space. I'm just kidding. Or am I?

CIMG1534.JPG
This is a very good view of the garden. Though it's not ALL of the garden. It's the water part. There's a lot of meanings in the placement of objects and such. Buddhism says that objects aren't supposed to be iconic, so I will not list any meanings. It's all about how you experience the space.

CIMG1523.JPG
This is a teahouse near the entrance of the garden. The floor around the teahouse is comprised mostly of moss. Why? I forgot. But surely you can look it up if your life depended on it (which it does, of course).

CIMG1535.JPG
These fish live a long time... They are called Koi. I think... The shoe in the photo is actually NOT my shoe. This is very strange.
